Night on the Streets of Amman

During summer, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Jordan and to be able to document a lot of the nightlife. It's such a different environment because people are so active at night, and the environment is much more vibrant than here. This picture captures the colors, people, and even the business at night, while still highlighting nuanced cultural differences.

The rich red backdrop contrasted with the textured faces of the subjects creates a strong visual tension. The soft light filters through the curtains, casting a surreal, cinematic glow that enhances the atmosphere of contemplation and aging. The focus on the wrinkles and expressions suggests a meditation on time, evoking themes of wisdom, history, and the quiet moments shared among strangers. The red curtain envelops the scene, adding a sense of warm melodramatic intensity.
