FEBRUARY STAFFER OF THE MONTH
Isla Warriner
What about communication arts interests you, and how does that translate in your work?
What I love about communication arts is that there are so many aspects to the major where someone can present their creativity. We have writing, film, journalism, and more, so Seeds combines all those aspects by showcasing everyone’s art mediums. It also gives me a chance to design the website and help write for different parts. It also is journalistic in the sense that I get to interview alumni and other students. Overall, I think the multi-media aspects of communication arts translate really well into the different parts of working on Seeds.
What do you like most about being a part of the website section of Seeds?
I really like the people I work with. I feel like I have gotten really close to them, and we work well as a team. Both my editors and fellow staffer are very dedicated workers, and we work efficiently and creatively to make the website the best that it can be. I enjoy having the creative freedom to make unique pages on the website and to help showcase other people’s talents.
What do you enjoy most about being in Seeds?
I enjoy the community of everyone in Seeds and how we are all tight knit. Since we are all in one class together, we can communicate between sections and staffers. We have fun activities with each other that really shout out the positivity of everyone on staff. The editors and management do a great job at creating a relaxed environment that is productive and efficient.
What are some goals that you're proud of accomplishing in Seeds?
I am proud of working on the winter online mag. There were a lot of pieces we had to go through and create pages for, so I am really proud of how efficient I and the rest of the website were, and the magazine looks organized and appealing.
Why did you decide to join Seeds?
I decided to join Seeds because I’ve always wanted to join a publication, but without the major stress that comes from a journalistic publication. I really enjoy art and creativity, so Seeds was perfect for me. I was allowed to use creative designs and share my ideas, while also working on a publication that allows other students to showcase their artistic talents.
